I am a postdoctoral researcher at Adelaide University investigating the developmental origins of cardiovascular disease, with a particular focus on how complicated pregnancies alter fetal heart development and lifelong cardiovascular health. My research combines large-animal preclinical models with molecular, physiological, and translational approaches to understand the mechanisms underpinning fetal cardiac programming. More recently, my work has expanded to investigate how alterations in thyroid hormone signalling influence cardiac development and function, with a particular interest in characterising the thyroid–heart axis in complicated pregnancies. Through this research, I aim to define how endocrine changes during pregnancy shape fetal cardiovascular development and contribute to future disease risk. My long-term goal is to identify mechanisms that inform strategies to improve maternal and offspring cardiovascular health.
