Dr Long is an implementation scientist from Monash University, working to reshape the Australian aged care sector to better meet the needs of those who use it. Her research focuses on ensuring equitable and meaningful stakeholder and consumer participation in all stages of the research process, with particular attention on vulnerable and traditionally under-represented groups. She is lead of the National Centre for Healthy Ageing Residential Aged Care Research Network (RACReN), which provide two-way engagement between researchers, providers, peak bodies and consumers in the residential aged care sector to rapidly generate and translate knowledge into better outcomes for consumers. Her other current projects include: working to improve information sharing during the transfers of aged care residents to and from hospital, addressing communication challenges for culturally and linguistically diverse aged care residents; and improving infection control in residential aged care.
