Cracking the FSH Code: A 25-year odyssey (#253)
In this lecture, I will discuss our lab's investigations of mechanisms through which members of the transforming growth factor beta regulate pituitary follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) synthesis. I will describe published and unpublished work on the mechanisms through which: 1) muscle-derived myostatin and related ligands stimulate FSH synthesis and 2) gonad-derived inhibins suppress FSH. I will also discuss the potential clinical and translational significance of these and related findings.
