Imaging the tumour microenvironment: From matrix architecture to live cell dynamics (#263)
Solid tumours are shaped as much by their surrounding microenvironment as by the cancer cells themselves. The extracellular matrix (ECM) can influence tumour growth, invasion, and treatment response, while the dynamic behaviour of cells within this environment is often overlooked in traditional endpoint assessments. This talk will cover approaches for quantifying ECM structure and fibrosis in solid tumours, and how these matrix-level features can relate to tumour progression. The talk will also cover intravital (in vivo) imaging and biosensor-based approaches for visualising longitudinal cell behaviour and signalling dynamics directly within tumours and metastatic sites in real-time.
